NEBRASKA – Solar panels evicted in Southshore Heights Homeowners Association dispute
The sun is setting on the solar panels atop Tim Adams’ house. The Southshore Heights Homeowners Association and Adams, an Omaha orthodontist, have settled a lawsuit over the solar panels that Adams installed on his house at 4787 S. 167th St., according to court documents. The settlement: Adams must have the panels removed by July 1.
Adams had vowed not to back down in his battle with the homeowners association that sued him on the grounds that the solar panels violated neighborhood covenants. Read more:

KATY, TX (KTRK) — There’s a battle brewing between homeowners and the association in charge of the neighborhood, all over where people are parking their cars. There is very little parking available in Lakeville, everyone agrees on that. But on average one to two cars are towed every day and some homeowners say it’s unwarranted and has to stop. Resident Andre Smith said, “I’ve seen it almost every day, or every other day.” “My brother’s car is a Honda,” said resident Amin Mohammed. “He got it towed once because it was right on the curb.” Read more:

FLORIDA – Justice Department Files Fair Housing Lawsuit Against Florida Homeowners Association and Management Company for Discrimination Against Families with Children
The Justice Department today filed a lawsuit against the homeowners association and former manager of a 249-townhome community in Gibsonton, Fla., for violating the Fair Housing Act by discriminating against families with children.
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, charges that Townhomes of Kings Lake HOA Inc. engaged in a pattern or practice of violating the Fair Housing Act by adopting, maintaining, ratifying, and, along with Vanguard Management Group Inc., enforcing occupancy standards unduly limiting the number of individuals who can reside in the townhomes. HOUSTON — (November 2, 2012) — The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) recently conducted a first-of-its-kind survey of HAR.com consumers to gauge public sentiment on legislative and policy issues impacting the Houston real estate market.
The online survey was conducted throughout September 2012. More than 1,000 home buyers, home sellers, homeowners and renters from the HAR.com Consumer Panel participated. The HAR.com Consumer Research Panel is comprised of more than 5,500 HAR.com subscribers, who have agreed to serve on the panel and answer questions about their home buying and selling preferences. GRANBURY — A walk through Sandi Wynne’s backyard in Granbury reveals a big danger, and the battle brewing with her homeowners association.
“It’s over 100 feet long,” said Wynne as she pointed to the huge hole on her property. “It’s about 30 feet wide.”
Minor erosion grew into the massive problem after a small creek that ran next to Wynne’s home turned into a raging river. It happened in January after several days of heavy rain. Read more:

Austin – Nicholas Aarsvold, 9, does what little boys do: Play in the woods, throw rocks in the creek and build stuff.
