A Sahuarita man was arrested last Sunday on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct after an altercation earlier that day at an HOA meeting.Pima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Joyner-Green Valley Library around 6:45 p.m. after a report of an assault.

Witnesses said Byron Hinton struck the victim following a heated exchange during a meeting for the Rancho Buena Vista HOA, according to the report. Hinton and the victim had argued before concerning a garage Hinton wanted to build on his property, according to the report.

According to the report, the victim said Hinton charged at him and hit him several times. During the altercation, the victim said Hinton’s blows bent his glasses, valued at $200.

Others in the room separated the two and Hinton left the library, according to the report.

When contacted at his home, Hinton said he had grabbed the victim by the shirt and pushed him into the chair but never swung at the victim as his hands were on the victim’s shirt until the two were separated, the report said. Read article:
