Austin, Texas – New laws aim to limit power of HOAs

Homeowners have reason to celebrate this New Year with new laws regulating Homeowners Associations. Some homeowners and their advocates feel the new laws are good progress, but far from perfect.
 
After 11 years, Jim Rash said he’s tired of his Homeowners Association.

 On top of his dues, Rash was recently presented with a foundation assessment of $17,000 from his homeowners association (HOA). He will split that assessment with seven other townhome owners, but he said it isn’t fair. Read more:
